Set up email DNS on Porkbun
Porkbun's DNS editor lets you add the same MX, TXT and CNAME records required by any email provider. Keep the record names relative to your domain.
Use the DNS editor
Open Domain Management, select Details, then DNS Records. Add one record at a time using the Type, Host and Answer supplied by your provider.
For a root record, use the host format shown in Porkbun's interface, commonly an empty host or @.
Validate after publishing
Save the records, wait for public DNS to update and run the matching checker.
If a record is not found, check whether the editor already appended the domain name.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Including the root domain twice in a host value.
- Removing automatic website records unintentionally.
- Adding another SPF instead of editing the existing one.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import all records?
Use the exported CSV/JSON only if Porkbun's current DNS interface supports your import format; otherwise add each record carefully.
What should I test?
Check MX, SPF and DKIM publicly before completing domain verification.
