How to set up SPF on Namecheap

Namecheap uses the Advanced DNS area for host records. The goal is one SPF TXT record at the root hostname, containing every legitimate sender.

Find Advanced DNS

Open Domain List, select Manage beside the domain, then open Advanced DNS and add a TXT Record.

Set Host to @ for the root domain. Paste the SPF value from your email provider into Value.

Merge before saving

If a TXT record beginning with v=spf1 already exists, do not create a second SPF record. Add the new authorised sender to the existing value.

Save, wait for DNS propagation, then use SPF Checker to inspect the published result.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Creating separate SPF records for Google, SES and newsletter services.
  • Entering quotation marks unless the Namecheap field adds them automatically.
  • Deleting unrelated verification TXT records.
